Studio Ghibli, Inc. is a Japanese animation studio founded in June 1985. It’s headquarters are in Koganei, Tokyo. The word ghibli means “a mediterranean wind,” the idea being that the studio would “blow a new wind through the Japanese anime industry.” The studio is headed by directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata and the producer Toshio Suzuki. After the success of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, the studio was formed in 1985. The Ghibli Museum was opened in October of 2011.
